We currently lack a unified approach to online learning infrastructure, resulting in varying levels of support across colleges and units. (By “infrastructure,” we mean not just the technical infrastructure, but support, licensing, best practices and standards.) Starting with at least more coordination between the service providers supporting online learning today, we aim to ease the burden on academic units with more a holistic support model.
Outputs from campus efforts such as the Transforming Higher Education initiative will inform our work and priorities. A Teaching and Learning subcommittee is the first subcommittee that we are standing up in our new Technology Governance framework and will have a substantial role to play in helping us address the gaps in this space.
